Hollywoodbets Worcester chose to support Breede Valley Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD) as part of Hollywoodbets My Community Programme for 2018/2019. Read on to learn more about the team’s donation.
Breede Valley Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD)
The organisation was established in 1951 by two concerned clergymen (Pastors Domisse and Wilson).
Their goal was to provide social developmental services to those living with disabilities within the Worcester area.
The organisation does receive a subsidy from the department of social development, however they are still responsible for covering their daily running costs themselves.
APD staff members assess clients, help create independent living plans, put together developmental vocational plans, and refer clients to appropriate agencies when necessary.
The Hollywoodbets Worcester Team decided to do their part to help support this organisation that does so much for the community. They donated blankets, educational toys, picture books, toiletries and nappies to the organisation.
Marketing manager for APD, Deonie Basson, was thrilled to receive this much-needed donation from the Team.
“Your donation is helping to create some financial relief for poverty-stricken persons with disabilities in the Worcester, Touwsrivier, De Doorns and Rawsonville areas. These products will help create a direct saving when it comes to their monthly subsidy,” she said.
