Hollywoodbets Provides Food Parcels to Tsalanang Games during COVID-19 Pandemic

This organisation was established in 2013 to promote sports development in their community in Roodepoort. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tsalanang Games weren’t able to continue working into their community in the way that they were used to, through sport. The organisers therefore wanted to continue uplifting those in their community, but in a different way. Thanks to a R25 000 donation from leading bookmaker, Hollywoodbets, the organisation was able to supply 150 vulnerable families with food parcels in the community.

This donation forms part of the “Brighter Future” project which was created by the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. A massive R1 million was put into the project in order to support 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces in South Africa. This came about as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to try and help some of the country’s most vulnerable inhabitants.

This will be the fourth time that Tsalanang Games has received support from Hollywoodbets.

“In the past we have sponsored some of the community games that Tsalanang plays host to. They do a great job in in uplifting their community. When we heard that they wanted to continue supporting others during this pandemic, we were excited to show our support for the fourth time. The food parcels went to those who have been affected by the national lockdown as many people were left without jobs,” explained Lorraine Tshablala, Gauteng Area Manager for Hollywoodbets.

Sports Manager at Tsalanang Games, Soloman Leshabane, was grateful to Hollywoodbets for their continuous support.

“Thanks to this R25 000 donation we were able to provide 150 families in Bramfisherville with food parcels. These are families who have been severely affected by the pandemic. All the community members were very appreciative of this support,” he said.
