HOLLYWOODBETS MY COMMUNITY
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMME
Overview CSI 2018
We are a company that is passionate about the communities we operate in, where our Hollywoodbets ‘My Community’ Programme has grown even stronger over the last year. Our Hollywood Group has continued to increase support to charitable organisations and the development of sport within their respective communities.
Throughout this year 111 charitable organisations and 85 sports teams from previously disadvantaged communities benefitted from our programme. We dedicated more time, resources and effort to supporting soccer across all regions, sponsoring junior teams all the way through to senior teams, as well as partnering with our Brand Ambassadors and soccer legends Jerry Sikhosana and Brian Baloyi on several community-based tournaments.
Our commitment to cricket has remained firm and we continued to invest in grassroots cricket clubs in the greater Durban area, which included two Senior women’s teams as well as teams in the Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 19 and Senior designations.
We are passionate about encouraging our Team to get involved in the community and many NPOs have benefitted this year including PinkDrive – the organisation that raises awareness about women’s cancers, Daredevil – a special race organised to raise awareness about men’s cancers, the Edith Benson Children’s Home for vulnerable children that burned down early in 2018, the South African National Blood Service, the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC) that supports children living with cancer as well as their families, and Reach for a Dream – the foundation that helps children with life-threatening diseases to live out their dreams
There were successful Mandela Day initiatives around the country which included supporting 15 different organisations made up of various schools and centres that care for orphaned and vulnerable children, as well as healthcare institutes.
Through our Enterprise and Supplier Development programmes we have helped 55 SMMEs, whose owners hail from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, to grow and develop into stronger, more profitable businesses. Small businesses around the country benefitted including Siyakhana Agricultural Project, Mbungwa Protection Services, Madiba Youth Organisation and various spaza shops and bakeries.
Well done to each of our 4 517 Team Members – it is because of you that we are able to support our communities in this way. Keep up the good work of investing in those around you and let’s continue to see positive changes within our communities.
