HOLLYWOODBETS MY COMMUNITY
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMME
Overview CSI 2019
As a company which has always been an active role-player in our communities, our Team of Purple Hearts have invested their own time and energy into our Hollywoodbets My Community Programme ensuring it continues to grow and impact the lives of more people each year.
The Hollywood Group remains committed to equipping those around us to create positive changes within our country. In the past year 134 charitable organisations and 140 sports teams and tournaments from various backgrounds and areas were positively affected by the My Community Programme.
Hollywoodbets is excited to be expanding our support of sports development into new ventures, and we’ve started sponsoring rugby clubs by partnering with the Phaka show and identifying promising clubs that need assistance. Thus far we’ve supported three rugby clubs based in the Eastern Cape and two in KwaZulu-Natal with more sponsorships on the cards for next year, so keep an eye out for more purple rugby clubs coming to your province soon!
Team volunteering continues to form an important part of our Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and the team supported PinkDrive and More Balls Than Most (the organisations that raise awareness about women’s and men’s cancers), Daredevil Run (a special race organised to raise awareness about men’s cancers) and the South African National Blood Service. The team conducted a festive bucket drive where buckets containing essential grocery items were handed over to Sizimisele Development trust in Inanda in time for Christmas. They also extended their support to our furry friends by collecting blankets during the winter months, that were donated to Animal Rescue KZN and Husky KZN.
Our Team Support offices have committed to a “green” approach where we choose to recycle our waste in specially allocated bins. We have done away with straws from the premises and are currently collecting high impact plastic items (bread tags and bottle caps) as we endeavour to help buy a wheelchair for someone in need.
We celebrated Mandela Day by spending time with 18 different organisations including various schools and centres that care for orphaned and vulnerable children.
Through our Enterprise and Supplier Development programmes our goal of helping grow small businesses and creating more employment opportunities has aided 36 SMMEs. These owners hail from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, and the Hollywood Group empowers them to grow and develop into stronger, more profitable businesses. Small enterprises around the country benefited including five jockeys, 14 trainers, clothing companies and bakeries.
Thanks to each of our 5213 Team Members for your support of this programme that forms a key part of our culture here at Hollywoodbets – your commitment to making a difference in your communities continues to inspire us each year.
